ANKARA, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Turkish army deployed additional troops and weapons along the Syrian border on Wednesday amid fears of a potential military intervention led by the United States, Turkish Today's Zaman reported.
Reinforcements from Turkey's military command in Gaziantep province were dispatched to Kilis province bordering Syria, said the report, adding that local police escorted the convoys of the army.
The deployment of troops occurred amid the escalating tensions near Turkey's border with Syria early this week.
There was an ammunition explosion on Tuesday in southern Turkey along the border with Syria, which killed one Turkish citizen and five Syrians.
