BEIJING, March 28 (Xinhua) -- A symposium was held here on Friday to commemorate Yang Yichen, a late top prosecutor of China. Senior official Liu Yunshan attended the symposium.
Yang, elected as the Procurator-General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate in 1983, died in 1997 at the age of 83.
Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), also met with Yang's relatives before the event.
Meng Jianzhu, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, called for officials to learn from Yang's loyalty to the Party, unshakable belief, steadfast pursuit of truth and readiness to take responsibility, as well as his work style of caring about and serving the public.
Cao Jianming, the incumbent Procurator-General, presided over the symposium.
