GUANGZHOU, March 27 -- Senior security official Meng Jianzhu on Thursday pledged to promote China's judicial reform in an active yet prudent manner.
During a visit to south China's Guangdong Province, Meng, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, had face-to-face talks with local judges, prosecutors and lawyers, and exchanged ideas about judicial reform.
This reform is a vital part of overall political reform, he said, urging more efforts to reinforce supervision and restraint of judicial power, and boost judicial publicity to safeguard justice.
All judicial officers should abide by the judicatory principle and improve their professional ability to contribute to the building of a country under the rule of law, Meng noted.
