BEIJING, Jan. 25 -- The Organization Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee has ordered strict supervision over the implementation of a revised regulation on selection and promotion of officials.
The revised regulation, published on Jan. 15, asked authorities to stress moral integrity while selecting and promoting officials. It ruled out promotion of "naked officials," or officials whose spouses and children have all emigrated overseas.
The new regulation was issued as an amendment to a previous one issued in 2002.
The revised version is a general guideline for official appointment, and party authorities at various levels must implement and abide by it, the department said in a statement on Saturday.
It reiterated that those who have been marked as "ill" in morality should never be promoted, and officials engaged in bribery, jockeying for positions or vote canvassing could not be considered as candidates.
The department said it will not tolerate violators, adding that it will publicize relevant cases of violations.
