BEIJING, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- Meng Jianzhu, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has called on law enforcement and judicial authorities to actively respond to the public's expectations of greater social justice and security.
Meng replaced Zhou Yongkang as secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee in mid-November.
In a speech delivered to the commission's first plenary meeting on Monday, Meng urged more efforts in promoting social justice, social security and a fine work style of officials to meet the public's expectations, according to a press release issued Tuesday.
Authorities must enhance supervision over, and the transparency of, their work, and they must boost their capabilities in social communications in the new media era, said Meng, also a state councilor and a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
