From Shanghai we go to Nanhai, in Guangdong Province, where the country’s largest annual photography showcase and contest, the "China Photography Exhibition", has opened. Established in 1957, the exhibition collects the best works from the previous year, and then takes the winning pieces on tour.

Among all contest categories, "social news" and "daily life" are the most anticipated. From the launch of the Shenzhou-9 Spacecraft to Mo Yan winning the Nobel Literature Prize, photographers have captured all the unforgettable moments of last year.

The first portrait taken after Mo Yan’s win is crowned as the exhibition’s golden trophy.
