QINGDAO, China, May 14 -- Chinese swimming superstars Sun Yang and Ye Shiwen recorded an easy win as specialists in men' s 400m freestyle and women' s 400m individual medley of Chinese National Swimming Championships here on Wednesday.

Sun, 400m and 1500m freestyle double champions in 2012 Olympic Games, kept his leading position from the start to clock 3:45.12, 4.12 seconds ahead of second-placed Hao Yun of Hebei. Hunan' s Wang Kecheng got the third with 3:49.30.

"The result is OK as I swim a little slowly in the first half, which I will try to improve in the next step," said Sun.

"I am satisfied with my performance now because it hasn' t been a long time since I took systematic training again."

Ye trailed Zhou Min of Shanghai at the 200m mark, while making a strong comeback in final two strokes, breaststroke and freestyle. Ye recorded 4:30.84, the world best of this year, more than two seconds ahead of former record, set by Spanish Mireia Belmonte.

Zhou Min and Henan' s Zhang Chenyao claimed the second and third place respectively.

"After the butterfly (the second stroke), I thought that maybe I would let everybody down as I had expected to be ahead of her (Zhou) then, or at least go head-to-head with her," Ye said. "Then in the breaststroke, I didn' t feel so tired."

"In the past, I would feel very nervous (in these circumstances). My coach told me to try my best before the match, then I felt OK," Ye added.

Ning Zetao, 2013 National Games champion, finished second in men' s 50m freestyle in 22.36, six hundredth of a second shy of Yu Hexin of Guangdong. Shanghai's Shi Yang got the bronze medal in 22.59.

Ning' s 21.91-second Asian record, set in National Games last year, was broken by Japanese promising star Shinri Shioura in Japanese National Championships in 21.88 earlier his year. Now Ning put his focus on taking the Asian record back in Asian Games.

Jiao Liuyang, women' s 200m butterfly gold medalist in London Olympic Games, finished third in 100m butterfly in 58.44. The top place went to Shanghai' s Chen Xinyi, who finished with 57.54. Chinese Army' s Liu Lan came to second with 58.27.

Liu Zige, women' s 200m butterfly champion in 2013 World Championships, finished 11th in preliminary, and failed to reach the final.

In other three events, Zhejiang' s Fu Yuanhui was crowned in women' s 50m backstroke in 27.51. Tianjin's Li Xiang topped men's 200m breaststroke in 2:10.84. The Zhejiang team claimed the title in women' s 4 * 200m freestyle relay in 7:58.93.
