Brazilian striker Muriqui, who scored a record 13 goals for China's Guangzhou Evergrande in their recent AFC Champions League triumph, won the award of AFC Foreign Player of the Year here on Tuesday.
"I'm very very happy to win this award," said the Brazilian. "I will try my best to score for Evergrande in the upcoming Club World Cup next month."
Muriqui, 27, had already collected the AFC Champions League MVP and Top Scorer. He also played a key role in Guangzhou Evergrande's three consecutive title-winning campaigns in the Chinese Super League.
"I have never expected to achieve so much since I was transferred to Guangzhou Evergrande," said Muriqui.
"I need to do well as a striker in the next season in Evergrande and hopefully earn more awards in the Chinese Super League and the AFC Champions League."
Muriqui's Argentine teammate Dario Conca was also short-listed for the candidature. The Argentinean inked a contract to return Brazilian club Fluminense next season after inspiring Guangzhou Evergrande to the Asian Champions League title.
"Conca is a very talented player. I hope Evergrande can fill up the place left by Conca," said Muriqui.
Guangzhou Evergrande won China's first Asian championship title in 23 years on Nov. 9 under the helm of Italian coach Marcello Lippi.
