China's star coach Jenny Lang Ping said here Tuesday that her team will strive for victories in the World Grand Prix Finals 2013, which will be kicked off here from Wednesday to Sunday.

Lang Ping said that it is pleased for China to access the finals as the top three of the London Olympic Games, namely Brazil, the United States and Japan, as well as European crack teams of Serbia and Italy, have all come to the event.

"The most important for China is to study and accumulate experiences," said Lang Ping, adding China will learn from its rivals, such as Japan.

"We are happy to have two Asian teams in the finals...I think Japan is a great team. They won the bronze medal in the Olympic Games last year. They have very good organized positions... they have great technique and hopefully we can learn from them," said the Chinese coach.

As to the difficulties facing China, Lang Ping said that short of training is a problem, adding "actually we did not have much time to training."

The star coach took the current position as coach of the China women's national volleyball team in May, 2013 and has some veteran players come back for the women's top event one week earlier.

Lang Ping also said solidarity and cooperation between players in the newly organized team is key to overcome difficulties, adding the rivals will surely impose great pressure on China.

In the preliminary rounds of the event, China only played Serbia, one of the five that enter the finals, with a tough 3-2 victory on Aug. 18 in Wu Han, China.

China, which only won the World Grand Prix in 2003, will encounter the European champion again on Aug. 28, the first day of the tournament.
