SANYA, South China, May 25 (Xinhua) -- The 2013 International Bowl Invitational and National Bowl Championships will be held from June 5 to 9 in Sanya, according to local sports authorities on Saturday.

Three hundred and fifty players from all over the country will join in the two events, which will be shown to the spectators both on the lawn and beach and are also considered as a way to select national team players for the Asian Beach Games to be held in Thailand in 2014.

"The best beach and lawns in Sanya are suitable for bowl playing," said Sanya sports chief Dong Yongquan.

Dong added that Sanya, a popular resort city in South China's island province of Hainan, is trying to become a training base for the Chinese national bowl team.
