HANOI, March 14 -- Vietnamese aircraft have carried out 52 flights as of Friday noon in an effort to locate the Malaysian airplane that vanished since March 8.

Vietnam's National Committee for Search and Rescue made the calculation in its official report on Xinhua's request in capital Hanoi on Friday.

From March 8 to 14, Vietnam has mobilized 11 aircraft of various kinds. Among those, Vietnamese Air Force deployed four AN 26 aircraft (three operational and one standby), four Mi 171 helicopters (three operational and one standby), and two CASA Maritime Patrol aircraft.

Meanwhile, Vietnam's Navy sent one DHC6 seaplane, said the report.

Ten Vietnamese vessels have been deployed for the search mission. Two are from Vietnam's maritime force while eight others from Vietnam Coast Guard.

Despite intensive search which involved a dozen of countries since the airplane lost contact with ground on March 8, no clue over the whereabouts of the missing plane has been found.

In an interview with Xinhua earlier on Thursday, Vu The Chien, deputy chief of Vietnam's National Committee for Search and Rescue 's Office said the country will conduct its search efforts till the missing plane is located while making necessary adjustment to suit the new situation.

"During initial phase of emergency search, Vietnamese aircraft conducted 15 to 16 flights each day for the mission. However, now, in the phase of enhanced search, the number of flights per day went down to four or five," Chien said.

Vietnam's National Committee for Search and Rescue said in its report that the country deployed five aircraft and seven vessels of all kinds for hunting of the missing Malaysian jetliner on Friday alone.

The planes flied along Vietnam's southern Ho Chi Minh Flight Information Region, from 103 to 108 degrees East (Longitude) while the vessels plowed its continental shelf delimitation lines from 104 to 106 degrees East (Longitude), said the committee's press release on Friday morning.

After seven days of fruitless searching, despite maintaining search forces, Vietnam on Friday changed the country's search status from emergency to regular, according to the press release.

So far, Vietnam did not receive an official request from Malaysia. The committee said after receiving Malaysian official request, it will report to Vietnamese government for consideration, said the press release.
