BANGKOK, Feb. 23 (Xinhua) -- A five-year-old Thai girl was killed in an attack by unidentified people at an anti-government protest site in east Thailand's Trat province on Saturday night, local media reported Sunday.
Shooting and bomb explosion occurred at around 9:30 p.m. local time, leaving 34 others injured, the Nation newspaper reported. It was earlier reported that 41 were wounded in the attack.
It is reported that the girl was pronounced dead on Sunday morning, and for the moment 29 of the 34 injured are still under treatment in hospitals.
There are five people seriously injured, one of whom is a seven- year-old child who was hit by a grenade fragment on the head, Anurak Amornphetsathaporn, director of the Emergency Public Health Office of the Public Health Ministry, was quoted as saying.
It is believed that the attackers came from outside the province, Trat protesters' spokesman Suwicharn Suwannakha was quoted as saying.
