BANGKOK, Jan. 27 -- Thai Civil Court will give its final decision on Thursday over the injunction request by the anti- governemnt People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) against the emergency decree.
The court on Monday held an urgent hearing to review PDRC's petition over the legality of the state of emergency, which was invoked since Jan. 21 in the capital Bangkok and some nearby areas, effective for 60 days.
Thaworn Senneam, a leader of PDRC and former Democrat Member of Parliament filed a suit with the Civil Court, said the government had no reason to invoke the emergency state as their rally was peaceful according to an earlier ruling by the Constitutional Court.
Suthep Thaugsuban, secretary general of PDRC on Monday claimed that protest leaders will not either negotiate with the government- run Center for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO) or evacuate from rally sites within 72 hours following the warning of the CMPO on arresting protesters who block government offices.
According to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's Erawan Emergency Medical Service Center, clashes between pro-government supporters and protesters since Nov. 30, 2013 have left at least ten people killed and 571 others injured.
