HOUSTON, Jan. 13 -- A high school in the U.S. state of Texas was evacuated Monday after a backpack suspected of containing explosive devices was found on the campus, local media reported.
Officials said a suspicious-looking backpack was found on the east side of the Seven Lakes High School in Katy in southeast Texas on Monday morning, local media KHOU reported. School officials believed the backpack was a "potential threat" and decided to evacuate the campus.
All students were escorted safely outside the school and led to an enclosed area on a football and baseball field while officers swept the campus, according to the report.
A bomb squad was called in and the FBI and the local Sheriff's Office were also assisting the search at the scene. Police temporarily cordoned off the nearby roads to the school.
