Light aircraft crashes in Ukraine, killing two

KIEV, July 11 (Xinhua) -- Two people were killed in a single-engine plane crash in western Ukraine's Chernovtsy region late Wednesday, authorities said Thursday.

The small plane went down around 8:36 p.m. local time (1736 GMT) in a rural area near Luzhmany village, killing a pilot and a passenger onboard, according to the State Service for Emergencies.

The two dead were members of local flying club "Wings of Bukovina." No other details were immediately available and an investigation is under way.
