DAMASCUS, June 3 (Xinhua) -- Armed rebels fired two mortar shells at an upscale district of the Syrian capital on Monday night, leaving an unknown number of casualties and property losses, the pro-government al-Ekhbaria TV reported.
The two shells slammed a residential building at the western neighborhood of Mazzeh Vellat near al-Kawthar Mosque, the TV said, adding that casualties are feared.
The TV ran footage of the targeted site, showing material damage in the cars and houses there.
