YEREVAN, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- A new peacekeeping mission manned by the Armenian troops will leave for Germany Saturday, officials said on Tuesday.
Major General Artur Simonyan, commander of the Armenian Peacekeeping Brigade, said the 65-member group will undergo special training in Germany before flying to Afghanistan in February to replace the current mission on the ground.
The Armenian peacekeepers have been serving in northern Afghanistan since 2009. A part of those troops are deployed in Kunduz while others are stationed at the Mazar-e-Sharif airport.
