Network of ecological monitoring stations established in Tibet

LHASA, June 5 (Xinhua) -- A network of ecological monitoring stations has been initially established in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region to provide technical and data support for the region's environmental protection, local authorities said Wednesday. Seven ecological monitoring stations in places such as Nyingchi, Shigatse and Nagqu have been set up and are operating, and another three stations in Ngari, Gerze and Markam are being built, said Ji Lei, an official with the region's ecological environment monitoring center.

Tibet to have helicopter emergency rescue system by 2020

LHASA, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Aviation companies are expanding infrastructure and service to enhance air rescue services in Tibet Autonomous Region, officials said. Lhasa Xueying General Aviation Co began a project in 2017 to build three rescue bases, each with a flight radius of 300 kilometers, and it is nearing completion, the China Daily reported.

Hydropower station put into use in Tibet's no-electricity area

LHASA, June 3 (Xinhua) -- An underground hydropower station has been put into operation in the former no-electricity area in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, local authorities said Monday. The Jinqiao hydropower station, which is a key project in the region's no-electricity areas, is the first hydropower station built with a rock-fill concrete gravity dam in Tibet.
