Go down along the Old Dragon Cave via the pond-dotted watercourse, you will spot a towering memorial monument with inscription of Jiang Zemin, the so-called Jiang Monument, which is comprised by Buddhist pedestal, bronze drum and feather fan. The inscription, reading Zhuge Liang’s Residence in Ancient Longzhong, was left by Jiang, the then General Secretary of China, in 1999 when he inspected Longzhong. Buddhist pedestal is commonly used as decoration for shrine seat, a traditional way to demonstrate prominent ranking. While the bronze drum mimics the war drum invented by Zhuge Liang to boost morale, representing the indelible contribution Zhuge Liang made to Shu Kingdom during his life-long expedition. The feather fan, as the trademark item of Zhuge Liang, epitomizes the resourcefulness of Zhuge Liang.
