Jade Cake is the local traditional famous pastry of Gucheng County, with a history of more than 300 years. It is said that on his way to pay homage to Wudang Mountain, Emperor Qianlong stayed in Gucheng and did not want to have meal since he was tired. The local officials presented the local pastry, Jade Cake. Emperor Qianlong tried a little, and had a better appetite. Then, he praised, “Jade Cake was the fairy’s food and the best of all pastries. I have a better appetite because of Jade Cake. You shall offer the Jade Cake as the tribute to the court.” Since then, Jade Cake was listed as a tribute to the court and imperial households.
