This was the first public office established in the KMT-controlled areas. It assisted the CPC Delegation and contributed substantially to solving remaining problems of the Xi’an Incident. When the War of Resistance against Japan broke out in July, 1937, the Red Army was reorganized as the Eighth Route Army of the National Revolutionary Army. As a result, the office was renamed as the “Shaanxi Office of the Eighth Route Army” accordingly. It is now one of the important cultural relics under the protection of the state.
